From a girl who has grown up in Nashville it’s crazy to see how much it has grown! I remember when the “Batman building” was built and we thought that was the tallest building. Today Nashville is covered in high rises with more going up every day.

Nashville is Growing

Nashville is also now one of the most popular places for a weekend getaway. You cannot walk around downtown without counting at least 10-20 bachelorette parties and seeing a number of tourists. We usually joke that you can usually guess if someone is a tourist if they are wearing cowboy boots because most locals do not wear cowboy boots! Nashville is such a great city with so many great restaurants and live music that it’s easy to see why so many people would want to visit!

The Spa

This past week I enjoyed playing a tourist and was able to check out the new spa at the JW Marriott. A couple of my girlfriends thought it would be fun to have a little staycation and check out the new spa. Living just outside the city it can sometimes feel like a trek to go downtown just dealing with traffic and parking. We were lucky to not have any issues on a Friday and the best part was valet was free with a spa service. As soon as you walk into the lobby of the JW Marriott you feel like you are miles away. The lobby was beautiful with a gorgeous fireplace and beautiful design. We hopped on the elevator to check out the spa on the 3rd floor.

When you walk into the spa you immediately feel a sense of relief from the beautiful design and the welcoming of the staff, it’s hard not to relax. We were first offered wine or drinks before being escorted into the locker room where we were each given a locker with robe and slippers. The locker room offers a shower and vanity with many tools for freshening up after your spa service. After we had changed, we were able to sit in the relaxing waiting area. They also offer plenty of snacks while you wait. I received a wonderful facial from Lindsey and my friends both had massages that they said were amazing. We all felt like royalty after because of the great treatment. We were also able to relax after and not feel rushed and enjoy a few minutes of peace.

Time for Lunch

After we changed, we went downstairs to Stomping Grounds for lunch. We decided to order 3 items and share them. It’s always nice when a restaurant will go thru the trouble and split the plates when they know people are sharing. We had the fried green tomato BLT, which was a fried green tomato with pimento and cheese topped with pork belly. It was by far my favorite thing we had. We also enjoyed the brisket nachos which was huge and great for sharing along with the pork sliders. Everything was very good, and the service was top notch. So even if you are not enjoying the spa it’s a great place to stop in for lunch of brunch.

If you are visiting Nashville or a local just looking for a day to escape, I highly recommend spending the day at the spa at JW Marriott. If they happen to be booked, I’ve also listed a few other alternatives for a spa day here in Nashville.
