We always love visiting Gatlinburg. I remember visiting every year as a kid. So I always love to come back and make memories with my own kids. We recently stayed at the Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa on our recent trip to Gatlinburg and had the best time! My heart was broken when fires ripped through my favorite mountain town, and much of Westgate Resort was also destroyed. They have been able to rebuild the resort even better than before.

Westgate Smoky Mountains offers multiple room options including a 60,000 sq/ft waterpark, zip lines, playgrounds, and crafts for kids. It’s not just for the kids, with a spa on the resort, restaurants and bar.

We enjoyed one of our favorite meals in Gatlinburg at Southern Comfort. Southern Comfort is a new restaurant located in Westgate Resort featuring southern cuisine with a cajun kick. To start you have to try the deviled eggs 3 ways and the fried green tomatoes.

For the entree the slow smoked pulled pork is some of the best in the south. And if you are looking for something a little different the shrimp and grits are not to be missed.

The staff at Southern Comfort also make the meal worth while. Everyone was so friendly and showed true southern hospitality that it made our evening even better! And you must finish with the beignets!

We also enjoyed breakfast at Wild Bear Tavern. Just down the road from Westgate Resort in Pigeon Forge. There are many options for a pancake breakfast in Gatlinburg but this one was our kids favorite, and where else can you find endless pancakes for $7. Wild Bear Tavern features German food, so you can even have a fried pork schnitzel sandwich for breakfast.

So if you make it to Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort and Spa be sure to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Southern Comfort or Wild Bear Tavern and you will not be disappointed! We can’t wait to come back! Have fun!
